Current Global Force Wrestling star Chris Adonis recently spoke with CLICKON Sports, and Ringside News provided the transcript of the interview. One of the major topics they talked about was his release from the WWE and mention by CM Punk in a promo.

In case you didn’t know…

Adonis rejoined Global Force Wrestling in March this year as a babyface, until he turned on Moose in April. He had a previous stint with the company during their TNA days in 2015 where he competed in the King of the Mountain championship.

The heart of the matter…

In discussing his most recent release from the WWE six years ago, Adonis said the following:

Adonis was known as Chris Masters in the WWE, and had two runs with the company.

The first run was in 2005, after a two-year stint in the Ohio Valley Wrestling developmental territory. He would be in the WWE Intercontinental Championship picture, but never managed to win it.

The WWE released him in 2007, but he made his return in 2009. He never really gained traction on the roster, and the WWE released him again in 2011.

When it came to CM Punk’s promo, Adonis said he appreciated Punk saying that, and that he understood what Punk was saying. It was shortly after Masters’ release that Punk cut a promo on John Laurinaitis (then Raw General Manager), who was Vice President of Talent Relations for the WWE and said the following:

What’s next?

Adonis is currently aligned with current Impact Global Champion Eli Drake, and has assisted Drake in his current feud with Johnny Impact. Drake and Johnny Impact will meet for the title at Bound for Glory, which takes place on pay-per-view on November 5th from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

Author’s take…

I can definitely sympathise with Adonis with regard to his 2011 release. As Punk said, he did work very hard to get better, only to not get any sort of push.

It’s great that he is currently part of the main event feud with his alliance with Impact Wrestling, Eli Drake. He’s only 34 years old, and maybe the third time will be the charm with the WWE, if both sides are willing to talk.
