MyGM mode gives fans the ability to control an entire show from picking the superstars to creating the matches, all in an effort to garner more popularity among the WWE faithful. Adding MyGM mode to WWE 2K22 was something that had to be done, though WWE 2K23 will need to improve areas of this game mode for the game to stand above its predecessor. Changes to the scheduling, giving fans more titles, allowing for inter-show rivalries, and a longer format would go a long way to making WWE 2K23 a great game.

Where MyGM Mode Falls Short

One of the biggest complaints for MyGM mode in WWE 2K22 was the lack of match types available to the player. By giving the player access to every match type, the game mode would force players to strategically pick match types so that they do not run out of budget for bigger PPV events. Another area where the game mode falls short is the lack of championship titles per show, most notably the lack of tag-team titles. This is of huge importance as title matches usually garner a lot of attention and often decide the outcome of rivalries and storylines.

Another area where MyGM was lacking in WWE 2K22 is the number of slots available to the GM, meaning that fewer matches and events can be scheduled. WWE 2K23 could fix this and give fans a more realistic approach to creating matches and events, which can also make it a bit easier for players to gain more popularity and fans. This will also need a bigger roster for each show and a larger starting budget for the GM to include more players into the roster.

How MyGM Mode Can Be Improved

There are ways in which MyGM mode can be improved to give fans a more balanced and enjoyable experience as the GM of a WWE show. For starters, allowing successful matches to be more than just a face going up against a heel, as this is too basic a concept and rivalries between two heels or two faces should be equally exciting for fans, like the rivalry between The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels. This would be further bolstered by giving players more slots for events and matches each week so that multiple storylines can progress in a single week, just like it does in the WWE on TV.

Bringing in more titles for each show is also important, but giving players the ability to create and remove certain titles from the show would also be a big plus. Setting up tournament matches to decide a number-one-contender or a member of a Survivor Series team would add a new element of customization. Finally, more options for interactions with rival shows, like staging takeovers or pitting one champion against another from a different show to gain more fans for both shows would be a great way to show how the different programs in WWE work together.

WWE 2K22 was a huge step in the right direction for Visual Concepts and 2K Sports, especially following the disastrous launch of WWE 2K20. With WWE 2K23 now in development, fans are hoping that there will be significant improvements to the MyGM game mode, one of the better additions to the previous game. By improving certain aspects, adding in more slots for events and matches, and giving players more freedom in the decision-making process of the show they choose to control, MyGM mode could help make WWE 2K23 the best game in the franchise.

WWE 2K23 is currently in development for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
