This is according to a report by SportsGamersOnline, citing “sources” that have said that WWE 2K22 General Manager mode is a “top priority” for the team at Visual Concepts. If SGO’s sources are to be believed, WWE 2K22’s General Manager mode is going to be one of the most popular modes in the entire game, with one source going as far as to claim that the mode will be what sells people on WWE 2K22.

SGO stopped short of offering a detailed explanation as to what WWE 2K22 GM mode will entail, but that information should come in January. It was already confirmed shortly after the WWE 2K22 SummerSlam trailer was revealed that more information on the game’s modes and features will come to light in January, so this does track with official information. Even so, SGO does not provide concrete evidence to back up their claims, so it may be best to take this info with a grain of salt for now.
This isn’t the first positive report that’s come out about WWE 2K22. A previous report claimed that people behind the scenes are very impressed with what they’ve seen of the game so far, with praise given to WWE 2K22’s rebuilt engine. It seems as though the developers have taken the WWE 2K20 backlash seriously and are working hard to turn things around for the franchise, an effort that should be aided by the new game’s extended development time.
WWE 2K22 has been in development longer than any other WWE video game has in decades. The severe backlash to WWE 2K20 saw 2K Sports cancel its plans for WWE 2K21 and give the team extra time to work on WWE 2K22. This means that 2020 and 2021 came and went without a main series WWE 2K video game, but it could all pay off if WWE 2K22 manages to live up to the hype.
While there have been multiple positive reports on WWE 2K22’s development, there has also been a report saying that WWE’s relationship with 2K Sports is “seriously strained.” Perhaps positive reception and strong sales for WWE 2K22 could turn that relationship around, but that all remains to be seen. Fans will learn much more about the game come its next big reveal event in January.
WWE 2K22 will launch in March 2022.
