However, the game has some hidden matches that don’t become obvious until one has dived into WWE 2K22’s settings and menus. One of the best old-school matches in the game is called the Iron Man match. Despite being as iconic as the Hell in a Cell, it’s not noticeable in the main match options in WWE 2K22.

What Is The Iron Man Match?

The real-life Iron Match pits two wrestlers against each other in a time-limited match that usually lasts for 60 minutes. The winner of the match is when a competitor has won the most wins within the scheduled time via pinfalls, submissions, DQ, and count outs.

Some of the most famous Iron Matches include matches between The Rock versus Triple H, Brock Lesnar versus Kurt Angle. Of course, the legendary WrestleMania 12 match between Shawn Michael and Bret Hart will go down in history as one of the best. Thanks to the endless amount of options, a huge roster, and the creation suite utilities available in WWE 2K22, these matches can be recreated.

Creating An Iron Match in WWE 2K22

Creating an Iron Match in WWE 2K22 isn’t difficult, but it can be hard to find the options to set one up if one doesn’t know where to look. Here’s the method to create an Iron Match:

Select a match from Play in the opening menu. Choose the wrestlers to compete in either a single-player or multiplayer match. Before starting the match, press the Y/Triangle button.

This will take the player into the Match Options Menu. From here, the player can tailor the match to their liking. One may want to have their WWE 2K22 Finishers and Specials to build and store much faster than usual and score pinfalls and submissions quickly. This will allow for a closer match when the timer runs down. This can be set from Normal to Fast on both options. Now select Custom Match Rules.

This will take the player into the Custom Match Rules menu, where they can adjust the match rules to their liking as with other special WWE 2K22 match types.

In the menu, select Iron Match The player can select the Pinfall and Submission stipulations. After selecting Accept, the player will be taken to the second menu.

From here, the player can select the time limit from 15, 20, 25, 30, and 60 minutes. Other rules can be changed, such the whether DQ, Rope Break, Ring Out, and Entrance Run-Ins are active. Finally, one can decide if they want to start the match with 1-3 finishers stored at the start of the match.

As with everything in WWE 2K22, the Iron Matches can be chaotic but in a fun way. This is especially true for local multiplayer matches where each wrestler can score a ridiculous number of pinfalls and submissions before the timer runs down.

WWE 2K22 is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
