For those who are new to the world of WWE 2K22, however, figuring out how exactly Ladder matches work may take a bit of time. This is because the game doesn’t directly tell players how to place and climb a ladder, let alone, how to complete the briefcase grab mini-game. Granted, this information is readily available for those who go looking for it, but, for those still having trouble, this guide will go over all the basics of Ladder matches.
How to Use a Ladder in WWE 2K22
As with other foreign objects that can be used as weapons, players can pick up a ladder using the L1/LB button. Once they’re holding it, they can use the Square/X button to use it as a weapon, or the X/A button to set it up. If the position they place it in isn’t quite right, they can either pick the ladder up again with a short press of the L1/LB button or rotate the ladder by holding it.
Once it’s set up in the right place, players can climb a ladder by pressing the R1/RB button. They’ll then have the option to press L1/LB to reach for items like the Money in the Bank briefcase, or R1/RB to climb to the very top of the ladder. If they chose the latter, they’ll be able to perform light and heavy attacks or jump off by pressing the X/A button. They can also perform a ladder finisher by pressing R1 and X (RB and A on an Xbox pad).
How to Grab a Briefcase from the Top of a Ladder in WWE 2K22
After pressing the L1/LB button to reach, players will need to complete a very basic mini-game in order to unhook the briefcase. They’ll be presented with a rotating circle with a small gap in it and a red ball that can be moved using the right analog stick. When the ball is lined up with the gap, they’ll need to press the R2/RT button to fire it through, which will light up one of the eight segments inside the rotating circle. Once all eight segments are green, the briefcase will come loose and the match will be over.
It’s important to note that not all eight segments will need to be lit up in a single attempt, with progress carrying over throughout the match. This bodes well, as other wrestlers will try their best to disrupt the player’s efforts, including knocking the ladder down or knocking the player’s wrestler from the top of it. If the ladder falls while somebody is holding onto the briefcase, they can still be pulled down by pressing the grapple button while standing beneath them.
