Now, Wreckfest is getting another big update that once again offers players the chance to race new cars, race on a new track, complete new challenges, and earn in-game rewards. A brief trailer on the PlayStation YouTube channel shows off some of the new content coming to Wreckfest with this newest Tournament Update, with the new season focusing on Stadium Super Trucks.

The new Tournament Season is called Super Truck Showdown, and looks to focus heavily on these Stadium Super Trucks with off-road and asphalt courses. This free update perfectly coincides with Wreckfest’s debut on PS Plus, a move that was no doubt intentional by THQ Nordic and Bugbear Entertainment. Alongside the Super Truck Showdown Tournament Season, Wreckfest is offering up its tenth DLC pack, which comes with three new cars: the Trooper, the Trophy Runner, and the Sandstorm.
Players who have purchased Season Pass 2 will get these three DLC cars automatically when they download the new update. Of course, with this free update, PS Plus owners on PS5 can try out Wreckfest for free to see if they enjoy the game, and then decide whether or not to go in for the Season Pass. Fans of racing games can no doubt find a lot to love in Wreckfest if they’ve never played it, as the game is unique thanks to its heavy focus on physics and the soft-body damage modeling that affects car performance.
The PS5 version of Wreckfest also comes with unique features thanks to the DualSense controller and upgraded hardware. The game runs at 60 FPS and outputs at 4K resolution, features faster loading times, and has had its maximum multiplayer lobby size increased from 16 to 24 players. Considering it is free on PS5 for the month of May, players should absolutely take the time to at least add the game to their collection, regardless of whether or not they intend to play it. Doing this will ensure they players retain Wreckfest even after its taken off of PS Plus.
While Wreckfest is already available on Xbox Series X/S, the game’s next-generation PlayStation version won’t release officially until June 1. This means that PS Plus owners on PS5 can play Wreckfest an entire month early. In that way, Wreckfest has set a pretty unique record being the first PS Plus offering with early access. Hopefully, players enjoy all the content coming in Wreckfest’s new Tournament Update.
Wreckfest is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
