As a single-player experience, Wreckfest is a lot of fun and the perfect way to enjoy a racing game without all the fluff and fuss, but it excels in multiplayer. Wreckfest’s main draw is the vehicular combat, but that’s not to say the game doesn’t offer petrol heads a means to fine-tune their four-wheeled battering rams. But taking the fight to other players in multiplayer carnage is where Wreckfest shines the most.
How To Play Friends In Wreckfest
Players have two options to play with their friends in Wreckfest, create a private server or find and connect to an already existing server and play together from there. For PC users, it’s easier to find an existing server using the Server browser and play together that way. For console owners, the method for creating a multiplayer game with friends is as follows.
On the main screen, select the Multiplayer option.
To create a private server for friends, select the create server option.
Players will now be in the Multiplayer Create Server screen. Here players can customize the track, the race type, and the rules.
The most important option for private games is the Invite Friends option on the bottom left of the screen. Console players should press the options button on the bottom left and select their friends from the list. With the server up, the creator must wait for the invited players to join.
The invite friends feature works on private and public matches with a server setup. Public matches allow players from other parts of the world to join the game. Previously, players used to create a server name and password to invite a friend. The recent updates along with Wreckfest’s Tournament mode remove the fuss of setting up matches this way.
Does Wreckfest Have Split Screen Co-Op?
One of the biggest draws of Destruction Derby on the PS1 was its ability to let players battle it out in the arena via split-screen co-op. Unfortunately, Wreckfest doesn’t have that option yet, and it’s unlikely it will ever get added in the future. Hopefully, if there’s a Wreckfest 2 sometime in the future, then Bug Bear Studios will include this feature.
Wreckfest is available now for Android, iOS, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
