Our Holy Paladin BIS guide will focus on what gear, enchants, and gems are best for each equipment slot for Holy Paladins at the beginning of their journey into Wrath of the Lich King Classic. Currently, we’ll go over both pre-raid and Phase One best in slot lists. As additional phases are released, we’ll update the list accordingly.

Holy Paladin Pre-Raid Best in Slot
Pre-Raid Best-In-Slot gear includes everything that can be obtained without stepping inside the first raids of WotLK. This includes gear obtained via Quests, Reputation Vendors, Professions, Dungeons, and Heroic Dungeons. There may also be a few pieces of gear from The Burning Crusade, namely Sunwell Plateau, that are still viable alternatives if you can find a group to go back and farm them.
Holy Paladin Best In Slot Head Pre-Raid WotLK
Your absolute best option requires Engineering, so everyone won’t be able to obtain it. Helm of Purified Thoughts is a solid backup and requires just rep to obtain.
Holy Paladin Best In Slot Neck Pre-Raid WotLK
You can obtain either neck without ever stepping into a dungeon. Your best option is a BOE, so it’ll be a tad bit expensive.
The other option is obtained through emblems.
Holy Paladin Best In Slot Shoulders Pre-Raid WotLK
To be honest, all three options are more than adequate. If you can’t afford the Dark Runic Mantle, don’t fret.
Holy Paladin Best In Slot Back Pre-Raid WotLK
There’s an easy emblem upgrade available, so don’t fret about your cloak slot.
Holy Paladin Best In Slot Chest Pre-Raid WotLK
Whenever you have the option to get tier piece without stepping into raid, you should 100% do that.
Holy Paladin Best In Slot Wrist Pre-Raid WotLK
To be frank, all of your options here will get the job done.
Holy Paladin Best In Slot Hands Pre-Raid WotLK
This is a tier slot for you. Easy choice.
Holy Paladin Best In Slot Waist Pre-Raid WotLK
Not only is the Meditative Cincture the easiest option to obtain, but it’s also far and away the best option.
Holy Paladin Best In Slot Legs Pre-Raid WotLK
You’re going to eventually pick up a tier piece in this slot when raiding, so keep that in mind. Having said that, these items aren’t particularly close. There’s a clear got best, good, and bad.
Honestly, if you’re able to get the job done with SWP legs, then keep that and focus on getting raid tier first.
Holy Paladin Best In Slot Feet Pre-Raid WotLK
Getting to exalted is what it is, but it beats paying for the BOE or running Violet Hold.
Holy Paladin Best In Slot Rings Pre-Raid WotLK
The Signet of Hopeful Light is excellent, and you’ll rock it for most of phase one if not all of it.
The other three options are pretty similar.
Reminder that only enchanters can enchant rings.
Holy Paladin Best In Slot Trinkets Pre-Raid WotLK
The Darkmoon Card is as good as you remember it being.
Heroic Strath has your second pre-raid option, but Eye of Gruul is a solid backup plan.

Most of these are pretty solid choices, but you might be using the War Mace through all of phase one, so keep that in mind.

This is most likely your bis for the entire expansion.
Holy Paladin Phase One Best in Slot
Phase one sees the introduction of the first wave of raids in Wrath of the Lich King, they are: Naxxramas, Obsidian Sanctum, and Eye of Eternity
Holy Paladin Best In Slot Head Phase 1 WotLK
The top two options here are pretty neck and neck, but Faceguard is plate, so you won’t be taking it away from your leather wearing friends.
Holy Paladin Best In Slot Neck Phase 1 WotLK
The Malygos quest reward is easily the best option for you but will be highly contested.

Tier is honestly the only option here.

There’s a lot of competition for your cloak with other casters and healers. Keep that in mind.

Tier is the only real option here. Your 4 piece bonus is that important. Everything else should be a stopgap.

Abetment Bracers are your best bet, but everything else is a very close second.

This is a tier slot for you. Easy choice.

Leash is technically a bit better, but don’t take it from casters. Waistguard is more than good enough.

Another slot that should be your tier piece.

The top options are pretty close to each other, so pick up what you can if there’s a lot of competition.
Holy Paladin Best In Slot Rings Phase 1 WotLK
Signet of Manifested Pain will be highly contested. Decaying Beauty and Wyrmrest Band are above the other options, but it’s all pretty close.

You’re reading this correctly; the raid options for trinkets aren’t the greatest in phase one.
