Since 2004, the Mets and Royals have only faced each other six times in two separate three-game series. The last meeting occurred in 2013 in Queens with the Royals taking two of three, but both clubs were vastly different than today.

After losing five of six to close out the regular season, the Mets are 7-2 in the playoffs and have won five straight. Bettors have returned a little more than 60 percent profit backing the Kings of Queens, four times winning as outright dogs.

In 11 postseason games, the Royals (7-4) have gone off the betting favorite in only three, despite being the reigning pennant holders and earning the AL’s best regular-season record (95-67). K.C. backers have returned slightly more the 30 percent of their investment at average odds of roughly +115.
