The Tigers’ 7-3 stretch over their last 10 games – and 2-1 series win against the Royals – prompted the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook to price the big cats at 6-to-1 odds to win the World Series, cut in half from last week’s number. With three more head-to-head matchups between these foes, this race is far from over.

The Central race in the senior circuit isn’t quite as close, but the Cardinals (7-to-1 odds to win World Series) own a 3.5-game lead over the Pittsburgh Pirates (18-to-1) and face division foes in nine of their remaining 12 contests. They don’t play the Bucs for the rest of the season, but a three-game set with the Milwaukee Brewers (40-to-1), who are five back in the division and 1.5 out of the second wild card spot, could provide some drama as the Brew Crew tries to make a push toward a postseason berth.

The Seattle Mariners (20-to-1) aren’t willing to go away. Despite going 5-5 over their last 10 games, Seattle remains one game out of the second wild-card spot. Matching up with the Mariners in that one-game playoff means the possibility of drawing Felix Hernandez as the opposing starter.

At this point, the Atlanta Braves (100-to-1) would take their chances against King Felix. Their 3-7 stretch has them trailing the Washington Nationals (9-to-2) by 10.5 games in the National League East and four games out of the second wild-card spot.
