For Kvitova, this is a second big final this year after the Australian Open. She and her legion of fans would hope that the result will be different this time round. Her performance this year has been quite impressive, though she had a dip at the St. Petersburg Open, where she lost early to Donna Vekic. At Dubai Open, she has struggled with her serve, but has still managed to play well enough to come thus far, unlike many other seeded players who have fallen by the way-side....

Notably absent from this month’s list of best matches is anything involving the women’s division, which has fallen off a cliff since the Royal Rumble. Charlotte and Asuka’s title match on SmackDown this week was easily one of the best-worked TV matches this year, but the horrible booking and story behind it meant that I couldn’t conscientiously add it to the list. Good work rate is necessary for a great match, but it isn’t the only element....

The match was made official on last week’s SmackDown after Roode & Ziggler viciously attacked the Street Profits. The challengers, who now refer to themselves as the Dirty Dawgs, targeted Ford’s knee, and they injured it in the process. This development was an important factor in the title match. Throughout the match, Ford’s leg was clearly hurt. Roode and Ziggler ultimately capitalized and pinned Ford to win the bout. As a result, the Dirty Dawgs dethroned the Street Profits....

At a time when a diva is looked at only as an eye candy, it is hard to believe that the women’s division has fallen to this point, from a time when two girls went on last to close RAW. There was a point when girls were taken seriously, and they outperformed their male counterparts in the ring. The sad state of affairs are obvious, especially since the new in-charge Paul Levesque doesn’t see a point in giving 3 minutes for the divas on RAW....

I say don’t count out a ‘regrouped’ John Cena which makes great sense to me. Others could include to varying degrees Cesaro, Big Show, Mark Henry and a surprise entrant/possibility that I talk about on the Grande Podcast this week.
